Why OldTimeChristianRadio?
I believe that there is a need to remember. For example, we need to remember that over 2000 years ago, a Man named Jesus Christ lived on this earth. He was, and is, the Son of God. He was put to death on a cross, not for His sins, but for ours. He arose the third day to defeat the powers of sin, and give to those who trust Him eternal life. This is not only important, but also essential for eternal life. Certainly, worth remembering.
We also need to remember our Christian heritage. Part of that heritage includes music. For many years, hymn writers such as Fanny Crosby produced great songs that have been sung for decades. Unfortunately, many of these songs are no longer sung, or even played by today's Christian radio stations.
In addition, the 1940s through the 1960s brought about some of the greatest Gospel songs written and sung by old-time quartets from the South, sometimes referred to as "Southern Gospel Music". It's easy to hear today's Southern Gospel, but what about these great old songs and groups from the past. It's our goal and purpose to keep this music alive, and send forth the message of God's love and plan for our salvation presented through it.
For the reasons stated above, I felt lead to start an online radio station that would help fill what I considered was the need for the music I have mentioned. After two years of planning, researching, purchasing old LPs, digitally re-recording them, and preparing them for play, we signed on the air on Tuesday June 22, 2004.
My prayer is that this website will serve to help people to find the station and be a source of information. I hope you enjoy listening to Old Time Christian Radio.
